Isac Elam Kaid
b. 1991, Alberta, Canada
Isac Elam Kaid is a sculptor whose work explores the structural language of fracture, mass, and material time. Working between sculpture, collectible design, and architectural commissions, his practice develops singular works for collectors and institutions.
Raised in rural Alberta, Kaid’s earliest engagement with form began through the arrangement of stone, wood, and natural fragments within the landscape. This instinctive dialogue with material continues to shape the studio’s approach, where each work emerges through observation, response, and direct engagement with the properties of the material itself.
Kaid’s works are held in private and public collections, including international diplomatic institutions and embassy commissions.
My first language is that of the natural world.
I grew up stacking stones and arranging branches in rural Alberta, an instinct that continues to guide the studio’s approach. Each work begins through observing what is present in the material itself and responding through experimentation and study.
The works are not intended as expressions of authorship alone, but as acknowledgements of our participation within larger cycles of time, transformation, and order. By approaching material as both subject and collaborator, the resulting forms become markers of place, ritual, and geological memory.
